“That game was one for the books. Nobody expected us to do what we did—not the commentators, not the fans, and definitely not Washington. Both of us went over 100 …yards that day, and we stunned everyone. But inside our locker room? No shock there. We knew what we were capable of.
Brion was lights out that day—three long field goals, all clutch. One of them hit from 52 yards, and the others were in the high 40s. Those kicks weren’t just good; they were clearing the uprights with room to spare. Five field goals as a team, with Brommert adding two more. We made sure to capitalize on every chance we got.
And then you look at the talent on that Washington team: Ernie Cromwell, Bob Sapp, Lawyer Milloy, Tony Parrish, Damon Huard, Rashaan Shehee—the list goes on. And who could forget that moment Jared chased down their receiver and caused a fumble? That was a turning point.
Even so, we were just the better team that day. It’s rare to see so many people shocked like that—fans, commentators, even Washington themselves. That’s the kind of game you’ll never forget.” #shorts[+] Show More
